Yet not I, but Christ in me(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zundjUFazfg&list=RDzundjUFazfg&start_radio=1)

1) When have I made plans without asking God first?

2) What’s the difference between what the people of Babel’s wanted versus God’s promise to Abram?

I think it’s ironic that out of all the chapters, I get the one with the tower of Babel. To this day, we (especially me) feel the effects of this story. But it is not only the effect of communication breakdown that has been passed down. When we look at the people’s desires, it may sound familiar. “I want to settle down, build a place for myself, make a name for myself” … is that so wrong? If we don’t read carefully, it may even appear as if God is against man’s success, “then nothing they plan will be impossible for them.  Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” But looking closer we see that man has put himself at the center of his own plans instead of God. How often do I make my own plans without asking God first? How often do I have a breakdown in communication with God? But just as God doesn’t abandon man after Babel, He will not abandon me either. He has a plan.

The story continues, and God promises Abram almost the same thing the people of Babel wanted. “I will make you into a great nation… I will make your name great”. What’s the difference? Abram serves God as his master, not himself. And through his obedience, “all the peoples on earth will be blessed.” Christ Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise.

Revelations 7-19 says “after this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb”One day the people that God once scattered all over the earth will join together again and, in all languages, will praise the Name above all names. Praise the Lord!
