(Give me wisdom https://youtu.be/1ULMpmK8m9c)

Reading Scripture: 1 Kings 3-4

Daily Verses

1 Kings 3:9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

Daily Question

What is true wisdom? Where is it from?

Daily Devotion:

What is true wisdom? How should we define “wisdom”? Originally I would have said something like making the right decisions at the right time. But actually wisdom is more than just making decisions. Wisdom is where knowledge, understanding and action intersect. All three elements are required. You can have understanding, but not act on it. You can be smart and understand nothing. You can have blind action, empty of understanding or knowledge.

But to have true wisdom, you must have all three. To have the right action with the right knowledge and the right motivation. How difficult that is! To get even one of these right is already difficult enough, let alone all three. So, Solomon went to the right source to seek for wisdom. He knew he needed help to govern God’s people. Only with God’s help can we be truly filled with wisdom. Proverbs 9:10 says “fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”. In 1 Kings 3:3, it describes Solomon as one loved God and lived according to God’s commands. By doing this, he knows that God is the only source of true wisdom. He was also willing to admit that he needed God to guide him. Wisdom can only reside in a humble heart. Praise God who tells us in James 1:5 ” If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” May we come before our wise Heavenly Father with a humble heart that seeks after His will and not out own. May we realize that knowing God is true wisdom.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your provision in my life. You give me opportunities to learn and grow in knowledge, understanding and action. Help me to seek after you alone with everything I have, and to live a life that glorifies your name!
